Dragonflies & Damselflies Training Day. Saturday 6th August, 10am-4pm. Stonecourt for morning classroom session / Anton Crescent Wetland for afternoon session. Flying jewels of the sky, the vibrant and active nature of dragonflies and damselflies will be explored, with identification of key species, habitat requirements and conservation covered by the course. Classroom session at Stonecourt in the morning, then field trip.

Teddy Bear’s Party. Monday 8th August 10.30am-12noon or 1.30pm-3pm. Sutton Ecology Centre. Bring your Teddy along for some party games, find out if they can survive in the wild and go on a bear hunt! You are most welcome to bring your own picnic and stay afterwards for a Teddy Bear’s Picnic. This activity is led by our experienced Education Officer and in partnership with Sutton Libraries. Bat Walk @ Mayflower Park. Wednesday 10th Aug, 8.45pm – 10.45pm. Top of the ‘lookout’. Young bats should be making their first flights from the roosts where they were born and feeding up quickly to put on weight to become an adult. We’ll use bat detectors to see what bats are out and about over the ponds and parkland.

Flower Fairies Adventure. Monday 15th August, 11am-2pm. Sutton Ecology Centre. Find the flower fairies with their flowers, plants and trees at Sutton Ecology Centre. Fairy stories, make houses for the fairies in the fairy circle and make your own flower fairy or elf to take home. In partnership with Sutton Libraries. Minibeast Mania. Tuesday 23rd August, 11am-2pm. Sutton Ecology Centre. Hunt for minibeasts, discover who lives in our ponds, meet the stick insects and finish off with some refreshments and cake provided by our Friends of Sutton Ecology Centre! Bat Walk @ Beddington Park. Saturday 27th August, 8.10pm-10pm. Car park by Riverside Animal Hospital. Bats are busy feeding up, trying to put on as much body weight as possible to enter hibernation when the weather turns cold at the end of summer. Join us for a short walk and talk about how bats live. Bat detectors will be provided.
