The event will demonstrate the work of staff and volunteers from both hospitals over the last year to improve clinical quality as well as strengthen the Trust’s financial position.
Chrisha Algaratnam, the Trust’s Chief Executive said she was looking forward to the open event with confidence: “This year’s event will be even bigger and better than ever. We’re turning the restaurant area into a marketplace where guests can interact with all of the specialist equipment and innovative systems we have developed to put our patients first.
The focus of this year’s Annual Public Meeting is the Trust’s Patient First programme – an initiative that will help to ensure each and every patient is at the absolute centre of how the hospitals work by continually driving to see things from the patients’ perspective.
“We have had a huge drive behind our Patient First campaign, and the Annual Public Meeting is the perfect chance for us to demonstrate this to our patients by showing just how much hard work our staff have contributed to improving patient care and working towards an even better future for our Trust,” explained Chrisha.
This marketplace will give guests the chance to interact with a whole host of interesting and engaging activities, some of which will include:
• Simulation dummy – it wheezes, it breathes, it moans and it groans, but best of all, it’s an effective piece of training kit used by our emergency teams to make sure they’re ready for anything. See if you’re up to the challenge!
• RemPods – labelled as ‘complete pop-up reminiscence rooms’. These care stations create a soothing and familiar environment for patients with dementia. We excel in dementia care and have other unique processes that will be on show.
• Mini health MOT – blood pressure, blood sugar, cholesterol… if you’ve never had a check-up, this is a great opportunity to see what it’s like to be a patient by having a few basic tests yourself.
• Live cooking demo – patient food is a hot topic at the moment, but an area that our Trust is performing well in. Grab a fork and get stuck in at live cooking stations courtesy of catering company Mitie.
• Age simulation suit – amongst the other stands, talks, info, and interactive experiences, we’ll also be showing off our age simulation suit that helps medical staff see things from our elderly patients’ perspective.
• Patient First stand – giving people the chance to see what we have achieved so far with our campaign and sign up to become an #ESTH Champion.
Everyone is welcome and there will be free parking with the meeting starting at 5:30pm in the newly refurbished Ingredients Restaurant. The annual report will then be presented at 6.30pm in the Whitehall Lecture Theatre, Post Graduate Medical Centre.
