Carshalton high School for Girls students held a cake sale on Thursday 16th June to raise money for the Alzheimer's Society.

Carshalton and Wallington MP Tom Brake, visited The John Fisher School recently.
A group of Year 9 and Year 10 students were selected to meet Mr Brake. Mr Brake gave a talk about the jobs that he has done in his Parliamentary career (including Chief Whip). Mr Brake also talked about his party the Liberal Democrats and how they have done in recent years, including the disappointing General Election. After Mr Brake’s talk he was questioned on his views of the EU referendum. On Saturday 11 June, two girls from Sutton High School competed at the Surrey School Athletics Championship. Dominique C (Year 9) won the inter girls 1500m to become County Champion in a close race and Georgia D (Year 10) was also impressive, picking up a bronze medal in the inter girls 80m hurdles.
As a result of her first place finish, Dominique has been selected to represent Surrey at the English School Athletics Championship in July. This is an English Schools double for Dominique as she qualified earlier in the year for the Cross Country Championships. Dominique also won silver in the Surrey Championships on 14 May and is representing Surrey in the South East Schools Inter Counties this coming Saturday. She has knocked 11 seconds off her PB this season. "We wish Dominique great success with her upcoming events and look forward to hearing about them," said a statement on the school's website. Italy and Iceland were on the itinerary for Stanley Park High School students recently.
The sights and sounds of Rome were savoured by twenty Stanley Park Y10 students based at the Termini in the very heart of the city and blessed with good weather, the group set out to explore five key landmarks. Wallington High School for Girls is to hold its Open Evening on June 29.
The event will run from 4 – 8.30pm, with the last admittance being 8.00. Talks by the Headteacher will take place in the hall at 4.15, 4.50, 5.30, 6.10, 6.50 and 7.30pm and will also be available as a video link on the school's website. More than 250 students in Years 7 and 8 of Sutton Grammar took part in the recent UK Junior Maths Challenge with 85 students awarded gold certificates, 97 silver and 49 bronze. As a result of their outstanding achievements six students have qualified for the Junior Maths Olympiad and 43 are eligible for the Junior Kangaroo. Well done to all who took part.
Orchard Hill students and staff want to send a big thank you to Surrey County Football Association for arranging a College Disability Tournament recently!
Orchard Hill College joined NESCOT, Carshalton College, South Thames College, Capel Manor College and Ealing, Hammersmith & West London College in Worcester Park for a brilliant day of football fun! "AFC Wimbledon coach, Emma has spent the last three weeks training up the students to get them ready for the tournament! It was a great turn out, and a great event," said a spokesperson. “It's amazing to see students from all levels, with all abilities coming together and working so well as a team!” Sutton College courses from September 2016 are now available for enrolment.

New subjects this year include British Sign Language (BSL) at Level 3, Dyslexia and Behaviour Management talks, Introduction to Location Photography plus courses running in our new workshop. Representatives from all curriculum areas will be there and there will be activities for all – Sign up on the day for free kids activities to celebrate the Queen’s birthday including making flags, crowns and pottery! Carshalton College is to introduce some exciting new courses to complement our existing provision at Carshalton College in Barbering, Computing, Digital Media, Games, Motor Vehicle, Plumbing, Carpentry, Construction Site Management and Sports.
Following a workshop in school run by Nestle, Year 9 Carshalton High School for Girls students met to take part in a fantastic opportunity at the Nestle building at Gatwick.
