Police are appealing for information after a 94-year-old male pedestrian walking along the pavement reported he had been knocked down and injured by a car reversing out of a driveway in Chatsworth Road, Sutton, near the junction with Church Hill Road on Thursday, 31 March shortly after 12:00hrs.
The elderly resident told police that the driver helped him up from the ground and put him into the car. He was then driven to his home in Tilehurst Road where the driver helped him inside his address but left without leaving any details.
London Ambulance Service were called and took the injured man to hospital to be treated for a fractured pelvis and bruising to his head.
The man, who is due to have his 95th birthday later this week, is recovering at home but has had to move his bed downstairs because of limited mobility.
PC Neil Pearce from Sutton’s roads and transport policing team, said police want the driver of the car to come forward either by reporting in person at Sutton Police station or contacting police in Sutton on 101. Police are also appealing to anyone who saw what happened to come forward.
The vehicle is described as a dark coloured car.
Police this week are due to distribute leaflets in the area to assist with their appeal.
