Building on the work that the borough's World War One forum has already started the group will now integrate with the CWGC’s national project.
It will use the resources of the internationally renowned organisation to increase impact as it seeks to ensure that all of the heroes that were killed in the First World War and who are buried in the borough have their resting places honoured and their stories remembered and retold.
Sutton Council established the World War One Forum to ensure that there was a suitable local focus for the government sponsored acts of rememberance which co-incide with the 100th anniversary of the 1914 - 1918 war.
"We are delighted to be working with such an excellent organisation," said chair of the Forum Lord Graham Tope.
"The Forum had already received a high level of interest from individuals and groups across the borough for a scheme which we were looking to start.
“Now with the Commission's support I feel confident that we can attract even more groups and residents and in doing so create the opportunity to have acts of remembrance which will ensure the memories of our war dead continue to be acknowledged a long time after the centenury event has finished."
