Goals from Arnold Okiror and Francois Gabbidon gave the Sutton Common Rovers first team a 2-1 win over a good Knaphill side on Monday night, writes Gary Brigden
SCR overcame the blow of conceeding a penalty after only 26 seconds, and trailing after only a minute.
Knaphill had much the better of the opening exchanges, but SCR slowly got into the game, and when Liam Holden and Arnold Okiror beat the offside trap, Okiror was on hand to level the scores on 18 minutes.
Both sides had chances, but it wasn't until the 57th minute that SCR took the lead, when a great Richie Smith cross was headed home by Francois Gabbidon.
That there was no further scoring was due in large parts to some excellent goalkeeping by Leigh Bowden and Knaphills Richard Shelley.
