It was a mixed bag of results for Cheam Hockey Club in their latest set of matches. There were win for the Ladies first team and the Ladies third team but losses for Cheam Men's third team and Cheam Hunters.

A Hamilton Antonio goal early in the second half sealed all three points for the Sutton Common Rovers first team in a hard fought win over Badshot Lea, writes Gary Brigden After just three weeks an evening run in Beddington Park has become one of the biggest events of its kind in the borough.
Having only four people at the start of this entirely free initiative organisers Harry Hutchon and Darren Lackey are ready to welcome more than 30 people will be attending on Monday night at 7pm. The event which starts by Carew Manor school has an accurately mapped out a flat 5k running course and is entirely free. These two personal trainers started the initaitive as a way of offering people of all ages and ablities a simple route into personal fitness. "We want as many people to come and not be worried about how fast or how long it will take them to do the run," said Harry who with Darren has named the event NightRun. "We make sure everyone has a good warm up before the run and then supply some refreshments at the end of it. We also ensure the course is accurately measured so that those who are cerious about their running can continue to measure their progress." The Carshalton Athletic Football Academy is a full-time sports and educational programme at Stanley Park High. The main aim of the Academy is to enable promising young football players (16-18 yrs) to continue with further education while striving to become an established player within the game. The Academy is headed by Ian Hazel who is an ex-professional footballer and UEFA 'A' licence coach. Ian has managed Tooting & Mitcham , Sutton United & Carshalton Athletic first teams, as well as having worked in Fulham FC's Academy. |
