Andrew Arnold, the author who has researched the names behind the WW1 war memorial in Carshalton will be giving an insight into their lives on September 25.
Early copies of the book may be available for sale on the evening.

Discovering 19th century Carshalton through maps, plans and pictures
Thursday 11th , 18th and 25th September 10am-12noon
Old maps and plans can be interesting and useful tools to build up a picture of how the village looked and functioned during the 19th century. Local historian, Cheryl Bailey, presents a course of three 2-hour sessions which will explore the history of the village. Six different locations will be investigated together with explanations of what archives are available locally and how to access them.

Andrew's book (see right) Their Name Liveth for Evermore, about the Carshalton WW1 Memorial, and the men behind the names inscribed on it, by Carshalton Ponds, is due to be published in early October. If it is published in time, Andrew hopes to have copies available at this talk.
