On Friday, 20 November, Natasha Marsh, aged 17, who is Deputy Head of the group of cadets who meet at Stanley Park School on Thursday evenings, accompanied Chief Supt David Snelling Sutton Borough Commander. During the day she visited the police control room at Lambeth and even met the Met Commissioner Bernard Hogan-Howe and Deputy Commissioner Craig Mackey. Chief Supt Snelling said: "It's fantastic to have the cadets come in and see what we do. It's also a great opportunity for us to showcase the great work we do in Sutton."
On the same day, Charlotte Barthrope, aged 17, who is Head Cadet of the cadets group at Overton Grange on Tuesdays teamed up with Chief Insp Julian Hagley, who runs the 999 response teams at Sutton Police station. Under the Chief Inspector's supervision, Charlotte led the daily management team meeting at Sutton Police Station which provides updates on the previous day and looks forward to that day's operations and activities. Chief Insp Hagley said: "I was pleased to have Charlotte accompany me for the day and give her an insight into what we do."
On Monday, 16 November, another Sutton cadet Abigail Gambel, aged 18, a former Head Cadet at the Stanley Park group and now a Cadet Instructor, joined Assistant Commissioner Martin Hewitt. They both started the day with a fitness test before Abigail went on to see how the Met Police prepare and deliver a press statement. Abi said: "It was the most amazing opportunity and I've learnt so much. It gave me a real appreciation for exactly how huge the Met is and how much work goes on. I feel incredibly lucky to have had such a unique opportunity and it has really inspired me." Assistant Commissioner Hewitt commented: "Abi is a credit to the Volunteer Police Cadets."
