The grants are ably administered on behalf of the council by the Sutton Centre for the Voluntary Sector (SCVS), a not-for-profit organisation which supports, develops and promotes the voluntary sector in the borough. Independent panels made up of local people consider each application.
Since 2011/12 well over £300,000 has been ploughed back into the community for projects ranging from Shopmobility and the Sutton Women's Centre to Foodbank and Sutton Ramps. Applications for the next round of grants close with the SCVS on Tuesday 20 January 2015.
Pro Active has recently been established by the Council's Public Health unit to encourage people to become more active, and to promote physical fitness and well-being. The closing date for the first round has now past, and successful applicants will be notified shortly.
