The conference gave the girls real-life experience of designing and marketing a charity fundraising event in an ‘Apprentice-style’ challenge.
Addressing the girls, Tracy Edwards MBE, said:“We only find out if we’ll sink or swim when we’re tested. This conference is a great opportunity for young women to step out of their comfort zones and into a real-life work environment where they have to dig deep to succeed.”
Over three days, the seven members of the Head Girls’ team from Sutton High School, gained valuable leadership experience including teamwork, communication, negotiation, problem solving and financial management. These tangible life skills will benefit them enormously when they embark on their own chosen careers.
Helen Fraser, Chief Executive of the GDST, said:
“We want to equip our girls to go out into the world prepared to confront the challenges they will face as they work their way up to leadership. The Young Leaders’ Conference is a great insight into the world of work that I’m sure they will remember for years to come.”
