The donation of £535 was raised through funds collected by the Moon on the Hill pub in Sutton, and will go towards new toys for the children’s hospital play room, as well as portable DVD players for older children on the wards and stimulating sensory toys for children with learning difficulties.
Nikki Sancroft, paediatric matron at the Trust, said she was delighted to accept the donation: “Every member of our staff is dedicated to providing the very best care we can for our patients. With younger patients, this means providing all of the usual stimulus that children need, as well as addressing any health requirements. The money donated by the Moon on the Hill is very much appreciated and will help us do just that.”
Craig Pretorius, the General Manager of the Moon on the Hill, said that he was proud to be supporting his local hospital:
“All of our hospitals are important parts of our local community. Epsom and St Helier Hospitals saved my life three years ago when I was admitted with blood poisoning, so on a personal level I’m really proud to be giving something back and encouraging others to do the same.”
The majority of the Trust's funding comes from central government, but charitable donations can be used to develop new treatments, buy new equipment and provide extra support to our staff and patients.
