There is always a lot going on in the Wandle Valley but for 2 weeks in September there will be a bumper crop of community events taking place. The Heritage Lottery funded Living Wandle Landscape Partnership and Wandle Valley Forum have gathered over 50 community events offered by dedicated Wandle Valley organisations in the 4 boroughs during the 2 weeks from 10th September ending with a Wandle wide picnic on World Rivers day, Sunday 25th September. The events are diverse; from walks, heritage days, treasure hunts, cycling, art and much more, something for everyone! An event leaflet will be available from the end of August and all events will be listed on wandlevalleypark.co.uk/projects/wandle-fortnight On World Rivers Day the Partnership is inviting people to ‘Pledge a Picnic’. Organisations, schools, clubs and individuals are being asked to arrange their own picnic on that day. It could be in your garden for your family, by the river with your club, in a park with friends or anywhere you would like to relax and enjoy the outside. Rebecca Watts, Living Wandle Project Manager said ‘We will be holding our picnic outside our office in Morden Hall Park from 12-2pm and hope people will join us!’ Pledge your picnic by sending your name, general location or borough of the picnic and who you will be picnicking with to [email protected]. Your pledge will be listed on the Wandle Valley Regional Park page wandlevalleypark.co.uk/pledge-picnic |
