Commenting on his recent meeting, Tom said, “Aspire first came to my attention earlier this year when they approached me to ask for help with a local resident’s very difficult case. Happily, we were able to work together to resolve the issues within a few days. Both Aspire and I wanted to find out more about each other; to learn how I can better support those in Carshalton and Wallington living with spinal cord injuries. I am pleased to learn that my constituents with spinal cord injuries have an organisation like Aspire to help.”
Tom will also be referring another constituent with spinal cord injuries to the organisation.
Aspire offers a range of services. This includes temporary adapted housing for people who are newly injured to prevent them from being discharged from rehab into a nursing home. The charity also has an assistive technology programme, independent living advisors, a sports development team, and offers grants to help people purchase necessary equipment.
