The Centre recruits approximately 700 volunteers a year and places them with over 400 registered statutory, voluntary and not-for-profit organisations.
"If you want to volunteer, come in for a chat with one of our Volunteer Interviewers, who are experts on local opportunities to help your community. They will try to find a suitable opportunity for you, matching your circumstances and interests," said a spokesperson.
"Appointments are offered Monday to Friday 10am to 3pm, and usually last about 45minutes. You will talk to one of our interviewers (themselves a volunteer) who will discuss your interests and requirements and help you make contact with the right organisation."
Call 020 8661 5900 to book an appointment (evenings may be available on request).
There are a range of centre opportunities where volunteers working for the Centre, provide practical support to members of the community who need assistance with shopping, transport, gardening & DIY and other tasks, or befriending a person who is alone. They may also be mentors or appropriate adults. The Centre trains and supports the volunteers who work for them.
Or there are external opportunities with more than 400 local voluntary, statutory and not-for-profit organisations register their volunteer vacancies with the Centre. The Centre refers volunteers who are interested in an advertised vacancy. The organisation to which you are referred is then responsible for interviewing, training and looking after their volunteer staff.
