The project involved constructing a wall at the front of a housing development on Mill Lane, Carshalton to replace an existing fence. The students were involved in all aspects of the project from removing the fence, digging and laying the foundations and constructing the wall. The wall was 15 courses of bricks high at the tallest points and featured gaps to install pre-made iron fencing.
Alan Mcardle, a teaching assistant on the construction project said: “It was great for the students to work on a real life project which will remain a permanent feature in their local community for many years to come. We are very proud of all the hard that work that they put in, sometimes in very hot weather conditions and the completed wall looks amazing!”
Matt Proctor, Construction Team Leader said “We are delighted the students have been given this opportunity and we welcome partnerships with other local community construction projects that our students can work in partnership with”
