More than 200 Sutton businesses have received more than £425,000 worth of business rates relief since last autumn thanks to assistance from Sutton Council.

Ryan Emmerson is a Level 4 business administration apprentice who started his journey with Opportunity Sutton, Sutton Council’s economic development arm, in 2014 after completing his A-Levels. Businesses and training providers from Sutton and the south-east of England are being invited to sign up for this year’s Sutton Young People’s Careers Fair and meet potential employees.
The Fair will be held on Tuesday 29 November at the Pulse Centre in Carshalton College. It will present local businesses with a unique opportunity to meet with young people from Sutton’s schools and colleges, and from other partner organisations who work with the 15 to 24 age group. The event will give local businesses the chance to raise awareness of their apprenticeship, training and employment opportunities, increase their business profile with young people, and network with other local employers. There is limited capacity at the Pulse Centre. As exhibitor places are on a first-come, first-served basis, businesses are recommended to book their stand as soon as possible. The course called Publicity for Solopreneurs - available from today - teaches micro businesses a step-by-step process to tell their stories to the media. It includes nine video modules based on a campfire theme, with accompanying worksheets, templates and cheat sheets, plus access to a private Facebook group where they can get ongoing PR support. This Pension Awareness Day, 15th September, Sutton Citizens Advice is encouraging people to plan earlier for a comfortable retirement.
The local charity says that many people in Sutton find pensions confusing and can be put off by complex language and paperwork, leaving their retirement plans to the last minute. |
