When officers arrived the riders dispersed quickly over the Downs. Traffic officers arrested two males on suspicion of taking a motor vehicle.
Over the last three weeks, police actions to disrupt anti-social behaviour by drivers and riders have included:
- Issuing a warning to a 17-year-old male who was found riding in Cuddington Rec, St Clair Drive, Worcester Park on Sunday, 5 June. The warning he received is issued to the person and vehicle for 12 months. If within the 12 months, the offender rides any vehicle or his vehicle in an anti-social manner anywhere again, then the vehicle can be seized by police.
- Reporting a man, aged in in late 20s, who was riding a quad bike with his son on Roundshaw Downs on Saturday, 28 May. He is being processed for an offence of riding off-road contrary to Section 34 of the Road Traffic Act 1988. He was also issued with a warning that could lead to his vehicle being seized by police.
The Safer Parks Team and Safer Neighbourhoods Team officers have an array of tactics that the police can use, including the deployment of the borough’s CCTV van to gather evidence for future prosecutions.
