Lawrence Francis told police he had drunk about five beers in the Melbourne pub, Manor Road, Wallington, from early afternoon on Friday, 31 July 2015.
At around 22:00hrs a woman came into the pub with some of her friends. They had all been drinking from earlier in the day.
At around 23:30hrs, Francis hit the woman with a glass which shattered and she fell backwards to the floor.
Francis then punched and kicked a man, aged 46, who came to help her, causing him to fall to the floor where the victim was kicked in the face.
Francis then left the pub. The following day, police enquiries led police to stop Francis whilst he was driving his vehicle and he was arrested.
The woman suffered a 2in gash to the left side of her face which required stitches inside and out. She also needed stitches to a 2in cut to her knee when she fell onto broken glass.
The man who was attacked suffered a 2-3in cut above his left eye which required around 20 stitches.
The injuries to both victims are expected to leave permanent scars.
Francis told police he only meant to throw a drink over the woman to get back at her for throwing one over him. He said he attacked the other man in self defence.
At Croydon Crown Court on Monday, 25 January, 2016, Francis, (10.01.1964), of Great Tattenhams, Epsom, pleaded guilty to two counts of assault and was sentenced to 16 months imprisonment.
