It’s time switch on those lights and let the festive shopping season begin and Successful Sutton leads the way, bringing a pop star celebrity duo to sing us in to Christmas.
Two members of 90s chart-topping band Liberty X will switch on Sutton’s Christmas lights on 14 November. Pop stars Michelle Heaton (pictured) and Kevin Simm will perform some of their greatest hits, before flicking the switch at 6pm, rounding off an afternoon of free family entertainment.
The lights switch-on, which officially heralds the countdown to Christmas, will start at noon, with a non-stop programme of live music, seasonal street entertainment and performances by community groups. Popular DJ and radio presenter Mick Brown will be compere for the day, hosting acts on the main stage, but the festivities do not end there. You can browse for gifts at the Christmas market where you will be spoilt for choice with unique and individual presents. Enjoy some festive fare from the food stalls or sample a delicious hog roast.
This year’s event promises to be one to remember, said Ross Feeney, Successful Sutton’s chief executive: ‘We are pulling out all the stops to ensure Sutton’s festive season starts with a bang,’ he says. ‘Come and join the festivities, do a spot of early Christmas shopping and make the most of Sutton’s great shops, restaurants and bars.’
