Police are investigating a report that an 11-year-old girl in school uniform on her way home from school was grabbed by her arm and turned around on the path between Guy Road and Meller Close, Wallington, on Tuesday, 19 January at around 15:45hrs.
Initially, police treated this incident as an attempted abduction. However, after an initial investigation, there is no evidence to support this, nor that the assault was in any way sexually motivated. Whilst detectives are maintaining an open mind, this assault is being treated as an isolated incident and is not connected to the assaults on adult females in Carshalton between 7-9 January.
The suspect is described as an Asian man, aged 30-40 and 5ft 10in tall. He was wearing dark clothing. Anyone with any information should contact Sutton Police station on 101. Alternatively, contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
