Police were called by London Ambulance Service at 08:43hrs on Wednesday, 20 April to a report of a pedestrian and lorry collision in Brighton Road near the junction with Mulgrave Road.
Officers arrived to find a woman in the road near the traffic light crossing outside an estate agent’s shop.
London Ambulance Service and London Fire Brigade attended. Police have closed the road and diversions for buses and other traffic are in place.
The pedestrian has been pronounced dead at the scene by medics.
The pedestrian is believed to be aged 85
A Sutton Council spokesperson said:
"We were sorry to hear about the fatal collision near the controlled pedestrian crossing in Brighton Road earlier today. We extend our sympathy to the family of the victim. The police are investigating the cause of the collision."
