Syed Rizvi, aged, 50 of Pinners Close, Carshalton, was summonsed to attend Croydon Magistrates' Court on Tuesday, 29 September.
He admitted making a false declaration in respect of the use of a Blue badge on Friday, 14 August 2015. Mr Rizer was using his daughter's Blue Badge and was parked in a disabled bay in Elm Grove, Sutton, without his daughter present.
He received a 12 month conditional discharge, ordered to pay £308 costs, £180 criminal court charge and a £15 victim surcharge. The court noted his early guilty plea and his previous good character.
Police officers and Sutton Council Permit Officers take part in regular joint patrols in the borough to stop misuse of the borough's 500 approx disabled parking bays which are for residents who have permanent or severe mobility difficulties and want to park conveniently for the shops.
The vast majority of Sutton's 7,144 Blue Badge holders use the Badges as they are intended. However, a small minority of drivers deliberately misuse the Blue Badge privilege and this has led to 47 successful prosecutions since 2013 - making Sutton one the London's most proactive boroughs in seeking to protect disabled bays for Blue Badge holders.
Blue Badges are part of recognised European wide agreement to allow disabled people to park close to their destination.
