The new ALPS (Advice Link in Partnership with Sutton) service is seeking more volunteers to assist with its new Information and Advice service.
The service, which starts in April, is being led by Sutton Citizens Advice Bureaux (SBCABx) and supported by organisations from the Sutton Together consortium including Age UK Sutton and Sutton Carers Centre. The borough’s Library Service are also a key partner in the service.

Funded by Sutton Council and the Big Lottery’s Reaching Communities Fund, the service will ensure borough residents have access to expert information and advice for at least the next three years.
Cllr Simon Wales, Deputy Leader of Sutton Council and Lead Member for Finance, Assets and the Voluntary Sector, said:
“Sutton Council is delighted to continue its financial support of information and advice services through the recently commissioned ALPS service as it will provide borough residents with the information and advice they need.
“The new service will need more volunteers from our community and we would ask residents with time to spare to come forward and assist this new venture.”
Steve Triner, SBCABx Chief Executive said:
“Between Sutton CAB, Age UK Sutton, Sutton Carers Centre and the borough’s Library service we have around 100 volunteers. But we are looking for more people to assist us with this ground-breaking new borough service and would welcome more volunteers from all sections of our community to assist us with the running of this exciting venture.
“We have a wide range of interesting and rewarding opportunities – people can train as advisers, information assistants, support our Research and Campaigns work or provide administration support.
“The roles can be supporting residents on the telephone, face-to-face or online. All volunteers will be fully trained and supported in their new role.”
For more information, prospective volunteers should visit the Sutton CAB website here, the Carers website here or the Age UK website here.
